June 29th, we had the opportunity to witness the stunning performances of our VSP music students. Each grade level presented a short performance showcasing what they have learned during their music lessons. Students were selected by their music teachers based on their participation and abilities during music lessons, while under the direction of the music teachers at Vanke School Pudong: Mr. Jonathan Paets (1st Grade and 4th Grade), Ms. Monica Chen (1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 5th Grade), Mr. Wesley Payne (2nd Grade and 3rd Grade), and Mr. Landon Callahan (5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade).

6月29日，我们观看了VSP学子精彩的音乐演出。在将音乐课上的学习内容内化之后，每个年级都为大家奉上了时长虽短但令人难忘的音乐盛宴。参加演出的同学是由音乐老师结合学生的课堂表现和能力综合选出的，在此也要感谢VSP音乐老师们——Mr. Jonathan Paets（一年级和四年级）、Ms. Monica Chen（一年级、二年级和五年级）、Mr. Wesley Payne（二年级和三年级），和Mr. Landon Callahan（五年级、六年级、七年级和八年级）的悉心指导。

During the concert, we witnessed many solo performances by VSP students. These students were part of a rigorous selection process. First, around 30 exemplary students were selected throughout all grade levels to submit audition videos. The music teachers then selected ten students from this group to perform at the final concert.

在演出期间，我们还看到了很多VSP学生带来的个人表演，登台演出的学生也是在层层选拔之后得以脱颖而出。最初，所有年级共有30名表现优秀的学生提交了海选视频，之后音乐老师则从中选出了10名可以在学期末音乐会上一展风采的学生。

We also saw a reprise of the VSP Middle school talent show winner joined by the ASA choir as they performed their rendition of “Believer.” 

我们同时也看到了VSP中学部“达人秀”冠军的再度登台，我们的冠军和ASA合唱团一起带来了歌曲《Believer》。

This semester, we saw much more collaboration between the music teachers. We worked together to ensure the students received a well-rounded music education that melded together with the Western Curriculum and the Chinese National Curriculum. This collaboration helped to relate the information between our lessons and make meaningful connections to the students’ overall learning.

在这一学期，我们尤为强调音乐老师之间的合作和交流。每位老师都会一起制定教学方案，确保同学们可以得到既涵盖西方课程精华，又体现中国国家课程标准传承的全方位音乐教育。教师之间的合作也令课程更为系统化，进一步助力学生在整体上对知识的把握和理解。

We look forward to seeing this collaborative effort grow in the next school year and looking forward to giving our students many more performance opportunities.

在今后各学年，教师之间仍将继续加强合作和沟通，也会努力为学生提供更多的机会，让同学们展现自己的风采。

We are excited to announce VSP’s s end of year Art Show has been successfully held. It features beautiful artworks created by grades 1-9 showcasing multiple mediums from graphite to painting and clay sculpture. 

我们非常荣幸地宣布，VSP学期末艺术展圆满落幕。活动期间，我们展示了一至九年级学生创作的精美艺术作品，大家能看到石墨作品、绘画，以及粘土雕塑。

The art department has diligently worked with students all year to foster creativity and risk-taking in our young artists, so they may cultivate confidence in their unique self-expression. Learning to communicate through line and color far reaches the confines of oral and written language allowing students to express with feeling and emotion, getting to the heart of their ideas poignantly and concisely. The winding road of creating art is not always an easy one, fraught with doubt, self-criticism and even sometimes failure. In the art studios we are able to teach our artists in the comfort and safety of our classrooms the value of these seemingly negative lessons in life and much more importantly, the significance of overcoming such setbacks and persevering with resilience and reverence for the creative process. Please show our young artists some love and appreciation in celebrating their work at the ART SHOW!

艺术组的老师在本学期和同学们一起开拓思维，激发着一个个小艺术家身上的创造力，鼓励他们要敢于冒险，这样才能充满自信地进行独特的自我表达。学习通过线条和色彩来完成沟通，能够打破言语和文字交流的限制，令学生们表达出情绪和心境，直切主题且色彩强烈地抒发心中所想。艺术创作之路不会一帆风顺，途中的波折和荆棘难免相伴，困惑、自我否定，甚至是失败也会随之而来。而在我们的艺术课堂上，我们可以在舒适安全的教室里，让未来的艺术家们感受到这些看似消极的人生经历背后的真正价值。更为重要的是，我们可以让学生明白，克服所有挫折、坚忍不拔，并在创作道路上坚持所爱有着无可比拟的意义。在此次艺术展上，请不要吝惜掌声和表扬，尽情为我们的年轻艺术家们喝彩吧！
