100 STUDENTS ON STAGE

As we reach the end of the first semester at VSP we all anticipate with excitement the upcoming Talent Show. This year we received over 150 video audition submissions from students. It was so great to see so many students at VSP with passion for performance and eagerness to participate in the show. In our Performing Arts Department, we have the difficult task of reviewing all the footage and selecting the performers for the shows. We wish that we could have every single student perform in the Talent Show, but unfortunately the time limits make this impossible.

在本学年第一学期即将结束之时，我们满怀欣喜地迎来了“达人秀”。今年，我们收到了来自同学们的150多个海选视频。看到这么多的同学对表演充满热情，渴望积极参与到演出中来，我们倍感骄傲。在表演艺术组，老师们要观看所有的视频，选出最后参加“达人秀”的表演者。这项工作十分艰巨，我们想让所有学生都能参与其中，但很遗憾，由于时长限制，只能忍痛做出取舍。

This year the format of the Talent Show had to change because VSP has grown substantially. The student body had an increase with the new classes of 5th and 9th grade. This is why we had to made adjustments and instead of having only one show like we did last year, this year we will have 3 separate shows which will feature over 100 students onstage. Thanks to the increased number of shows, all students at VSP will be able to see a wide range of talent ranging from dance and music performances to magic shows, rubik’s cube experts and roller-skating prodigies.

VSP的规模在今年更为扩展，五年级和九年级开始招生，因此我们的“达人秀”形式也做出了相应调整。去年我们只举办了一场“达人秀”，而今年我们举办了三场，有超过100名学生登上舞台，展示了自己的才艺。得益于节目数量的增加，所有同学能够欣赏到更多的才艺展示，我们不仅看到了舞蹈和唱歌节目，更有魔术行家、模仿大神和轮滑天才在舞台上大放异彩。

Applaud all the hard work

We applaud all the hard work and time which goes into preparing for the Talent Show. Students truly go far and beyond to be proactive in order to prepare for the show. This year we noticed a significant increase in the number of collaborative performances which auditioned for the show. Many students are practicing their risk-taking and creative skills to work with their friends and create original collaborative performances for the show. I am so proud of the work and performances that all the students have shared with us.

在此，掌声要送给为此次“达人秀”精心准备的同学们，这次演出的成功举办离不开你们的积极筹备。今年，我们在筛选大家的海选视频时，也注意到集体表演的节目增加了。很多同学和小伙伴一起，展示了精彩有创意的才艺，我对同学们为此所付出的努力感到自豪。

One side of the show that perhaps goes unnoticed is all the hard work behind the scenes from teachers in our Performing Arts Team, the school office, our activities coordinator, the logistics team, IT Department and the marketing team. The production process of planning for the shows started back in October with meetings and initial ideas about how we can improve this year’s edition of the VSP Talent Show. You will notice that we have a bigger stage, more student participants and a more organized system for receiving audition materials from students. I want to extend my most sincere appreciation to every single one of the teachers and staff who worked hard and tirelessly to plan for these shows in order to give our students a chance to shine onstage.

同时还要感谢幕后默默付出的无名英雄，感谢表演艺术组的老师们、校办、我们的活动协调员、后勤团队、信息技术部门和品牌团队。此次“达人秀”的最初策划从十月份就开始了，我们在会议上交流想法，力争将今年的VSP“达人秀”推上新的高度。相信大家也注意到了，今年的舞台更大，参与的学生人数更多，活动组织更为健全，对同学们的海选视频给予反馈时更为高效。在此，我想对所有辛勤付出的教职员工表示感谢，正是由于大家无私的奉献，才成就了学生们一个个在舞台上的精彩瞬间。
